Whenever I pass through YVR and I’m hungry, this is what I order — rotisserie chicken with a choice of two sides/Jennifer Bain

WHAT: Rotisserie Chicken + Sides

WHERE: Pacific Farms Market at Vancouver International Airport’s domestic terminal, after security and near Gate C29.

PRICE: $21.95

DISH DECONSTRUCTION: My go-to meal at YVR is a quarter of a rotisserie chicken that has been brined overnight and paired with two sides. Depending on what’s on offer, I might pick from a mix of roasted vegetables, cooked greens, jasmine-cilantro rice or roasted potatoes/sweet potatoes.

WHY: I try to make healthy choices when I’m flying and roasted chicken and vegetables is always comforting. Besides, this takeout spot specializes in Vancouver and British Columbia brands and usually has kombucha.

FUN FACT: YVR is actually in Richmond, an Asian food hotspot. The last time I passed through, I took the Canada Line train from YVR Airport station to Bridgeport Station to meet a friend for a Korean lunch on “Food Street” (Alexandra Road). Then we poked around the Aberdeen Centre — home to an impressive Asian food court — before I hopped back on the train at Aberdeen station and headed to my downtown hotel.
